My Teaching Philosophy

CASE STUDY 1

This case study focuses on the development of expertise. This is a key focus of my teaching is in sport performance (in course including The Professional Journey, and Industry Placement). Having spent a significant amount of time developing myself in three areas - applied practice, teaching and research - I will reflect on my own journey towards expertise. More importantly, I shall critical reflect on the process of redesigning the core papers in this program, including assessments, in developing expertise  and identify areas where improvement can be made for the students I am teaching in 2016. Reference is made to the relevant literature throughout.

CASE STUDY 2

Becoming an authentic teacher is a central theme within my teaching philosophy. I believe that this is a quality which can bring the best out of myself and my students, and that it helps me to engage the holistic learner, and to escape from the limitations of theteacher-student dynamic and traditional teaching methods. This case study focuses on the successes and challenges I have faced in 'bringing myself to the party', including reflection on issues such as professional boundaries, power, engagement and assessment. Reference is made to the relevant literature throughout.
